And women, naturally will always select for physical appearance above all, actually this selection will get MORE aggressive since they have so many options. If you had several women thowing themselves at you of varying levels of attractiveness you'd just pick the hottest one wouldn't you? Well likely no, you'd choose a decent looking one that makes a great girlfriend or wife. because that's exactly what men did for women, for example fathers, would judge the merit of the man, his gravitas so to speak, that is why arranged marriages have been a thing for so long.
