It's pretty useful though. To be objective, the germans tried the same thing with dirlewanger. But the germans also recruited turkics.
The soviet union had hordes of incredibly violent warlike turkic people to use.
the germans recruited the same turkic tribes in the cossack divisions (because, ironically, the turkic people were the most likely to defect) and those ss and wehrmacht divisions were the ones that actually committed the most brutality on the part of the germans, not the actual german soldiers. The reason that the cossacks were more likely to defect was because their ancestors were mostly white army, and both the Muslims and the Christians among them were against the ussr. Stalin used them for their brutality and to get rid of them.
The eastern front was total war and the germans used the same people for shock and awe that the soviets used whenever it became apparent that the war wasnt gonna be won by sheer nobility. The soviets just had far, far more of them
The germans in the wehrmacht didn't commit the brunt of german brutality, neither did the slavs in the red army commit the brunt of soviet brutality. Scytho-mongols from the "Stan" countries did the majority of the brutal work for both.
