If we're talking about problems with modern technology the biggest gripe is smartphones. You can't opt out of updates so Google/Apple just feed your old phone modern updates until it figuratively explodes. The old hardware can't keep up with the new software and they intentionally stress it so you get mad that your phone is running too slow and you go buy a new one.

Apple got in trouble for dialing down the batteries and performance of old phones. Now, Apple said that this was because old batteries wear out and have different charge profiles so they had to change how much draw from the system was on the battery to make them safer and healthier. Funny thing is, this is actually 100% true. They were probably *actually* telling the truth.

The problem is that they got *caught*. Rather than be up-front with this information they tried (and had likely done it in the past on old phones) to hide it, though likely it was because consumers are stupid and don't understand how Lion batteries work. So it blew up in their faces.
