The greatest irony is that he hated other jews for their materialism, and yet his ideology is basically pure materialism.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that he hated his fellow tunnel rats.

It would be funny if that were th' case, but most of Marx's remarks about his own kind were mild criticism.
