I work as a nurse. We have many alarms in the hospital for different things like IV medication pump errors or infusion complete warning. We have alarms for oxygen, heart rate, blood pressure cuffs.... there are soooo many alarms. And the staff loses their minds trying to keep them all silent. Sometimes it takes awhile to get to an alarm to stop it going off. I'm talking smoke detector alarms blaring every 3 seconds basically.

Nig patients rarely notice them. It's hilarious. I've stopped even hurrying to silence or stop them in black patient's rooms because they don't even notice. I'll turn it off and say "sorry that must have been really annoying for you that that alarm was going off for 10 minutes." And they will just blankly stare back or say "what?" Or "what u talkin bout?"

I could write a book about what they don't notice lol.

On reddit of course someone chimed in that they are white and grow up poor and couldn't hear them either. I'm assuming this a cope though.

Or at least the significant minority.
