In the first scene they race swapped Barbara as black but still a redhead and made her a public defender instead of a college student and star gymnast.

And in the same scene they make Harvey Dent an evil, smarmy, conviction at all cost district attorney which makes no sense because the entire premise of TwoFace is that he was an incorruptible justice at all costs crime fighter before the injustice that transformed him.

They made Alfred obese.

Of course commissioner Gordon is a nigger, too.

And they genderswapped Oswald Cobblepot and gave hi- er, her 3 bumbling children.

And this is like 5 minutes in, tops. I'm not even close to being done with the first episode.

And the real tragedy is that they got Bruce Tim to do the voice acting before he died.

edit: oh and the climax has a really corny gag at the end just before the wrap-up

And the penguin being a single mother makes no sense because HIS backstory was that he was orphaned for being deformed!!!

2nd edit: tried the second episode. The first relied almost completely on black Barbara to advance the plot. The second episode? Officer Montoya, the hispanic Female cop. And the writing is even worse. The climax relies almost completely on exposition while the resolution was a corny gimmick with bad dialogue.

This is an offensive insult to the 90s BtAS.

edit 3: oh, they retconned Clayface a little, too, which took out his entire tortured story of being physically addicted to the treatments and blackmailed into committing crimes

So I tried episode 3 while reading e-mail and Catwoman's costume is atrocious.

So all 3 episodes so far have ben centered around females. At least they introduced Dr. Quinzel as her real origin story.

edit 3.1 So Clayface is just a narcissist who wanted more fame. He was "too ugly" to be a heartthrob so he always played a "heavy", usually a villain. He wasn't someone who tragically had their career taken away, then when offered a chance to regain his passion in life he was used and addicted to the "medical treatment" like someone prescribed opioids.

edit 4: so Harvey Dent is a full on evil politician. It makes no sense for the origin of TwoFace. He slanders the mayor for trying to stop The Batman, Commissioner Gordon plays second fiddle to the Mary Sue Renee Montoya, and in the 4th episode Dr. Quinzel talks about how Batman is a fetishist even though this is supposed to be a kid friendly show. Which is too bad because they bring back Firebug, but he's a meek pudgy awkward loser pyromaniac rather than a former military jock who wanted to destroy unsafe buildings since they were the cause of his family's deaths.

Oh, and now Bullock is not just a gruff cop who bends rules to stop crime but rather in fact a corrupt cop who commits murder to cover up his schemes.

edit 5: so aside from Harley Quinzel being Oriental, she is a villain before she meets The Joker. She is an Asian dressed as a European jester without ever meeting The Joker, and in fact calls herself The Jester. Oh, and she's also a lipstick lesbian who asks officer Renee Montoya on a date. Notice how in medioa made by dykes none of the dykes look like the massive fatass bulldykes that dykes always look like? No, they are all classically gorgeous and feminine. It's almost as if their obsessive fetish is simply borne from envy.

This is truly an abomination. None of these origin stories are anywhere close to the real ones.

I saw the trailer weeks ago and had hope. Terrible writing and they destroyed the core concepts of every character but Batman in the first episode and most of them had no reason to be in it while Batman barely was! It was like they were intentionally trying to slap fans in the face.

It's probably the case. Look at any movie throughout history, every time a new actor takes over the role of an existing character it all turns to shit. Back in the past this was typically avoided, and actors made a shitload of money for their work simply because of how irreplaceable they were.

Back in the days it was more common to simply make a new character when bringing in a new actor. Sometimes actors dies or has to be replaced for other reasons, that's all fine, just make a new character then.

The animation was straight ass. I saw a review and there was a still of Batman where his cape drapes over the front of his shoulders but is also flying out from above his shoulders. Like, really basic composition errors.

Whether or not you like capeshit, BtAS was one of the master pieces of animation. Excellent music, dripping that golden age art deco style, solid writing and characterizations, and good plots both original and from the comics.

Would love to see something in that style pushing White values.

That and Gargoyles was the peak of superhero animation. Then in the 90s there was also Spawn, and the Fox Kids versions of X-Men, Spider-Man , and The Tick.
