A customer called me a WOP today and I honestly didn’t know how to respond. It was just so out of pocket.

He then proceeded to let me know that it’s okay because he’s got Italian friends.

Boomers are a different breed. If only they could channel that energy for good. All that lead paint they ingested really did a number on them.

Been cracking up all day thinking about this though.

i had never heard it either so had to look it up

wop
(n) a racial slur for an Italian or person of Italian heritage. It is often said that this term comes from "With Out Papers" or "Working On Pavement," but it actually comes from the Italian word "guappo", meaning a swaggerer, pimp, or ruffian.

I apologize for not transmitting to Gen Z all of the racism we were raised with as Gen X

We had jokes we would tell each other to keep the racism alive long after WWII ended.

I still remember a large number of polish jokes.
