These are British police using high impact rounds, not Irish.
Fucking with the people of Northern Ireland, however, Irish republican or British nationalist, is like poking a fucking Kodiak bear with a stick though. It's just gonna get worse. That area is the balkans of the west and none of the *numerous* insurgent groups there are gonna take particularly kindly to this. It's one of the few areas of the isles that has almost net zero migration, because the people are openly racist, and there is a very good chance that you'll be attacked. Either by catholic Irish ultranationalists or protestant British ultranationalists. Been to Northern Ireland before, it's the most racist European "country" I've ever been to, bar none. And this is counting a stint through the balkans as well, NI is more racist than the balkans.
The IRA and the UVF are both united in their shared hatred of the British and Irish governments. This might be the straw that broke the camels back for a repeat of the troubles, but with the insurgents on the same side. It won't be good, hell, even during the actual troubles with the Ulster insurgencies and the IRA on *opposite* sides, both of them still turned British army into fertilizer at a disproportionately high rate.
