Remember, Abraham came from that area. Ur was one of the cities in Sumeria along with Babylon. Abraham was likely a prince or royalty from that area. How did Abraham know about the true God if he grew up in Ur in Sumeria? Who told him if they all worshiped false gods?
We do know from history that the Canaanites were uniquely disturbing in their ritual practices. Not only did they practice human sacrifice (which Egypt and Sumeria both participated in at the time) but they did other things like child sacrifice by burning, prostitution, and sexually deviant acts. God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and a few others in the area because of their sin.
If you read the recently recovered artifacts from Canaan, you can read about how the Canaanites made a mockery of the Most High God and put other gods like Moloch above him. The Canaanites were the wicked ones, and so God turned his face against them.
We even read that when God sent Jonah to Syria, that the people repented in sackcloth and ashes and asked for forgiveness from God. Isn't this a sign that the people were worshiping the same God as the God of the Bible anciently?
And we see that Paul and others had great success among the "pagans" of Rome and Greece. If they were pagans, how did they convert so readily and rapidly to Christianity? Wouldn't it take many years to teach them all about God and replace all their false worship?
People say that Babylon was a great wicked place, but that simply isn't true. It wasn't until the jews fled the Roman empire and inhabited Babylon that it became associated with debauchery.
And guess what the jews brought with them? The ancient religion of the Canaanites. They were kicked out of Israel specifically because they adopted that religion and replaced God with false gods. Now that they have been exposed by Christianity, they try to make it seem like everyone was doing it in the ancient world, which is simply not true.
Of note, the Phoenicians were the Canaanites. They settled the Mediterranean and beyond, possibly all the way up the coast of Europe into Scandinavia. When the Romans started to rise, they recognized that they had to destroy the capital of the Phoenician empire in Carthage, and virtually shed every drop of blood and every ounce of treasure they had to do so. Why were they so motivated to do such a thing? The simple answer is economics, but the reality is that Romans could care less who their trading partners were, and would've happily traded with the Phoenicians. No, the Phoenicians were doing HUMAN SACRIFICE which is the ONLY thing the Romans could not tolerate.
Incidentally, it's also the reason why Titus destroyed the temple at Jerusalem. I bet your rabbi never told you that, did he? Nope, because it doesn't look good when the same pharisees called "whited sepulchres" by Jesus were discovered sacrificing Greeks to the Canaanite gods in the Temple.
Were they, as a people, corrupted at some point? The human sacrifice was practically at a zenith in Carthage, which was their most historically recent still-inhabited colony. But there's also no evidence of Phoenician human sacrifice in Iberia or Britain, which they left earlier than Carthage. And the evidence for it in the lands of Canaan itself are more sparse than they are in Carthage.
I have seen it posited before that the israelites *were* the Phoenicians, and that the YHWH cult splintered from the paganistic cult, and that at some point between this split, the Phoenicians became corrupted in their belief. This is particularly the case with Christian identitarians. It stacks up, to an extent, considering that the biblical accounts of human sacrifice as well as the hard evidence for it come a significant amount of time after the beginning or even the height of their civilization. And also considering that the israelites used the exact same alphabet as the Phoenicians, despite apparently being in a biblical war with people that they hated, so I believe that they *were*, in fact, the same people. And both of these peoples were Aryan.
We may also consider that there's no record of the Greeks being repulsed by the Phoenicians *at all* until much later in history, in fact they were incredibly intertwined. The human sacrifice definitely would have disgusted Greek sensibilities long before it actually did, had it been taking place beforehand, but for a very long period of history the Greeks and Phoenicians were visiting each other and trading like it was nothing. They were barely even thought of as a foreign people. Our alphabet comes from theirs.
So what happened to them? Mongrelization? Demons disguising themselves as God? What caused what could be described as a superior, perhaps even Aryan, considering that the indo Europeans they interacted with never even made note of them looking a certain way, race to descend into madness and barbarism?
The phenocian question is one that has been racking my brain for a while, and the question is simply at what point did they begin human sacrifice? Because theres not any evidence of it taking place for the majority of their civilization until nearly the end. With only Carthage as a mere holdout, and also being the place with the most of it. And also, why did it happen? What caused them to start doing this? Does it relate to the jewish question in any way? What does this mean for us?

The Israelites (the northern ten tribes, including the tribes of Joseph) were likely dispersed with the Phoenicians and also the Germanic Tribes. They melded into other tribes and all but disappeared as a separate political entity. That said, the remnants of their traditions and laws are found all over ancient Europe. For instance, English Common Law has no historical basis. It has always existed, much like London. And English Common Law is clearly similar to the Law of Moses in the Bible, suggesting that the ancient inhabitants of the British Isles were practicing some form of legal code based on it.
The Phoenicians began with the Canaanites. By the time Moses leads Israel into the wilderness sometime around 1300 BC, they were already deep into human sacrifice, abortion, homosexuality, etc... When Abraham was wandering around Canaan in his time (2000 BC) there were the first signs that those people were going astray, and that's about the time that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and the other cities in the area.
One of the problems you are running into is that archaeology is not a reliable science. It cannot tell us what did NOT happen, only show us artifacts that suggest something DID happen. This is important. For instance, for the longest time, we knew from history that the Huns were expert horse riders, but we could not find any evidence of horses in Hun settlements we dug up. Another example: King David was thought to be a myth until an artifact was discovered mentioning his name.
History is a much more reliable source than archaeology, despite the fact that ancient historians included unbelievable accounts of supernatural phenomena. For instance, the Sumerian records indicate that their first kinds would live for 10,000 years or more, which is hardly believable.
Ultimately, "I saw it in a dream" is the only real authoritative source. Either you can try to be an impeccable scholar, in which case you spend all your time telling people what you don't know, or you use history and religion as a guide to build yourself up and rely on revelation as a reliable source of information about the distant past.
Christians since the 400s believed that God was immaterial, when the Bible clearly teaches he was more like a man than anything else. When people objected, they killed them. "Proper" Christianity has strayed far away from the True God who our ancestors all worshiped -- jew AND gentile alike.
YHWH was a true God in the truest sense, with enormous even infinite power and ability. He lead not just Abraham but many ancient people to prosper in the land they were given. In Abraham's day, mankind started to stray from the true Gods (YHWH and his Father) and began to worship strange things and started to do human sacrifice and such. This is exactly what happened before the flood. However, God had a plan that didn't involve killing everyone and starting over.
God chose Abraham and Abraham had to leave Ur and go on a pilgrimage all the way up to Canaan where God promised his descendants would not only inherit that land but all the earth, but especially that through his descendants the entire earth would be blessed, or in other words, brought back to the worship of the true God.
Since Abraham's time, the only group of people that had gone grossly astray from the original gospel that Noah and his children preached to their descendants were the Canaanites. Their false religion taught that God wasn't truly all-powerful but more like a machine or a set of rules that could be taken advantage of by smart people. These ideas entered the minds of Abraham's descendants. Judah, unlike the other tribes, did not embrace these ideas openly, but secretly. Openly they practiced the religion that Moses taught them, but in their secret places they were doing all sorts of abominations.
I think it is incredibly important to understand this point. The jews strayed FAR away from the teachings that God gave them, but the Gentiles, outside of Canaan, did not. Go read their history books and their philosophical texts and their religious writings. They valued, very much, the things they were taught by God and tried very much to follow them.
Babylon finally had enough of Jerusalem and took away their temple, their nobility and royalty. After Persia overthrew Babylon the emperor sent the descendants of Judah back to Jerusalem to rebuild their temple and re-establish the worship of the true God there. You see, the kings of Babylon and Persia had encounters with YHWH that caused them to believe in him as the most high God. But did they stop worshiping other gods? Not according to ((archaeologists)) and ((historians)). And "modern" Christians are so far removed from the truth about the nature of God that they can read clay tablets literally describing God's encounters with these people and think they are talking about false idols.
Anyway, the jews who returned to Jerusalem were sorely outnumbered by the other people there, and were barely able to finish the temple let alone establish a nation based on Moses' laws. The prophet at the time, Nehemiah, condemned them for refusing YHWH and embracing the local gods, yet again, and from what we can tell, they never returned in numbers to that area. The vast majority of the descendants of Israel had already left Israel and integrated with Gentiles all across the world, so much so that they could not remember who they really are.
The Maccabees overthrew their Greek rulers for a time, and tried to establish by force what God was unwilling to do. They failed. One of the things they did was force-convert the locals to their interpretation of Moses' Laws, and that is why when Jesus came he found Pharisees perverting the scriptures and replacing man's wisdom for God's teachings. Jesus, the physical manifestation of YHWH, literally God in the flesh, tried to bring them all back to proper worship and religion. The "jews" rejected him, including the tiny number of actual descendants of Judah, and he was crucified but rose again the third day. His disciples then spread the news far and wide, and every jew who believed stopped calling themselves jews but Christian.
Of note, and this is VERY IMPORTANT -- the so-called pagans surrounding Jerusalem mass-converted to Christ. Why? *BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY WORSHIPING HIM.* When Jesus came, remember, "wise men" from the east recognized what was happening and sent gifts to him because people knew about him before he was even born. But also -- just think what has to happen to convert from what we are told is paganism to Christianity, and imagine millions of people doing this overnight. Impossible! No, Paul would preach in an area, and in a matter of weeks and months, most of the people in the town would convert. How? Because Paul was not telling them to change how they were doing things -- just revealing that what was already promised had been fulfilled.
It was only the "jews" who were secretly practicing the Canaanite religion who refused to convert. And when they were caught sacrificing Greeks inside the temple, the Romans said "Enough!" and destroyed the temple and chased them out of the empire forever. They fled to Babylon, and there, perverted what was once a proper worship of YHWH and killed any Christians they could get their hands on. Hundreds of years later, they codified their Satanic teachings, handed down from the Canaanites, and called it "Judaism".
These people infiltrated every corner of society and perverted everything they can touch, including the Christian churches. Once you know what to look for, you can see them hiding in plain sight everywhere. For instance, anyone who posts a perverted thing, they are jews. Normal people don't talk about genitalia and sexual perversions. Only jews do. But look for people spouting things that are clearly against the Bible, and you'll see that they are either jews or convinced by jews. Trace it back to its origin -- ask them "Who told you this?" and you will find a jew behind it all.
History, archaeology, christianity, basically everything has been corrupted, and until you can figure how to tell truth from error, you will be lead astray 100 times out of 100.
The Romans and Greeks practiced 'exposure' where they let the child die in the forests usually for economic or eugenic reasons. The Greeks and Romans indeed were disgusted about sacrificing children for favors of the gods. Phoenicians in Lebanon banned human sacrifice long before they were conquered by the Persians in 500 bc, while the Carthaginian breakaway colony practiced it into 150 bc.
Carthage had economic friendship with Rome long before the Samnite wars of 350 bc until after the Pyrrhic wars of 275 bc.
Reason Rome destroyed Carthage in 146 BC, is despite Carthage losing its powerful Navy (all but 10 ships), and all overseas colonies, its economy was thriving and the fear of another Hannibal being born.

TLDR, the Greeks lacked the discipline to sustain a large empire based around Anatolia/Modern day Turkey region (former Eastern Roman Empire established with Constantinople in 330 AD) as seen in the fragmentation of Alexandrian Empire. Oracle of Delphi were like the CIA of today, and demanded that Rome deal with its western flank first.
