Sadly looks like they sold out to the commies to accomplish their goal, meaning their victory was hollow if Ireland because another Liberal Democratic jewish colony (which it was under the British Empire already, since the jews basically ran the Empire after William of Orange and Cromwell handed it to them).
The IRA took from whoever they wanted to. The soviet union and the third reich were fair game to them. There also wasn't one cohesive ideal behind the IRA except Irish independence. That's it. They weren't left wing or right wing, the members could be either or. They leaned left in the 60s and 70s to get soviet gibs. They were hard right in the 30s and 40s to get German gibs. When you're an insurgency, you don't pick and choose if someone is offering to fund you
The thought behind banning the IRA in the 70s from the perspective of a nationalist party is a reasonable one. This was the time period in which they were getting soviet shit, having a soviet influenced insurgency in your borders isn't a great thing for a nationalist party to have
