I wouldn't discount it entirely.
The USA had millions of jewish immigrants, orthodox jews had massive families, ergo founder effect.
They hide their past and take on new names (not Rosenbaum and Goldberg, but names that *actually* blend in in the United States, such as "Welch" in picrel).
Subsequent generations forget they are jewish but still act jewishly. Some don't forget, but hide it.
The true number of jews in the United states is entirely unknown because they are shapeshifters. That handy 2% statistic doesn't do very much good.
You run into a similar situation as the Russian empire's oddly large number of jewish intelligentsia that oftentimes had no fucking clue that they were jewish, and nobody else knew that they were jews, but they still did jew shit and supported events like the February revolution. Like Lenin, who didn't know that he was 1/4 jew and who everyone at the time assumed was just half German.
But here's the thing about the jews. They know that blood dictates action. So adhering to their religion is not a huge hindrance to them, as long as the apple never falls far from the tree. They know that their people will still act like jews, so if adhering to Judaism proper would be a risk, or put people on a scent trail, they can drop it and get the results that they want. Secular jews and orthodox jews serve the same master and it's in their dna.
Like how you can turn a white man into a Muslim and they still won't stab you in the street and operate child grooming gangs (Bosniaks). And you can give niggers the gospel and you still end up with shit like the lords resistance army. Beaners were given the gospel and you still have santa muerte and people ripping out hearts, and thats *with* 60% average spanish blood.
