When Caesar defeated Vercingetorix, the gaul chieftan who wanted to unite gaul against Caesar, he didn't kill him but kept him in a cage to remind the other kings what happens if you try to rise up. He did kill him a few years later at a triumph but you get the point.

Granted you can't compare this oiece of shit to mayor to his ancestor so maybe he's not worth being kept as a symbol... IDK
