Politically it's currently the best in Europe... which doesn't say too much, given that all nations (their politicians) are hellbent on bringing misery upon their populations. Economically it's meh.

Also, remember the language barrier. Even if english/french medias pointed out to some things here and there for profits, awareness of weimar problems was mostly a German thing and average people didn't have much free time and means to figure out what happened.
