Proselytizing has dropped off quite a bit in recent decades, probably correlated with the general decrease in Religious zeal by the Church goers, however the core doctrine of Christianity is proselytizing. .

> And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. - Mark 16:15

> Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19

The Christian lust for World domination is found mostly in the sects that accept "Dominion theology" , which seems to be a belief that Christians are to convert the whole world to Christianity, and prepare the Throne for Jesus Christ.

Satan is a Biblical character, and many of them are somewhat related to the Gnostics in their claim that the God of the OT is the dumb/blind/evil God, and it is Satan that seeks to free humanity from their demiurgic bondage... or for other Satanists they are opposed to Christianity, but their entire worldview is still based on the Bible, and so they choose the bad guy in the story, to display an extra degree of rebellion to the doctrine.

Many Atheists are similar to this last form of Satanist, in that they assume that to be Anti Christian is to also be Anti God, since they do not care to take the time to research the Theology of any Non Abrahmic paths.

This has been my experience any way

'Satan' and 'Lucifer' are biblical characters, but the prototype predates all three abrahamic-based 'religions'. I tracked it all the way back to Sumer, once upon a time, and that is just only as far as I took it. My guess would be it far predates Uruk as well.

All the 'holy' books of the jews, xtians, and islamaholics contain massive plagiarisms from other sources, either reworded or entirely reworked to suit their purposes. That said, most branches of Satanism I was familiar with do conform to your theory. I have no idea if they still do. This site seems to suggest there is even more division today than way back when:
