In a round about way I think that you can say stopping their unrighteous conduct and delivering justice would be serving their spirits, spirits which they've outright ignored and damaged with their unrighteous actions.
Defending our race and healing it would indeed be a service to others, though some might say this is indirect and therefore doesn't matter much in the Biblical context given.
