Exactly this. When the official German government surrendered the people should have just carried on fighting anyway. I’m half Russian and can tell you that if nato invaded Russia nobody there will give a shit if Putin surrenders- people will engage in guerilla warfare because Russians don’t want transgender children and vans of peace in their streets.
Unfortunately Germans are too obedient and guerilla warfare is technically terrorism so when the German replacement government surrendered the people just obeyed. That wouldn’t happen in Russia if nato attacked Russia tomorrow- instead Russia would turn into Afghanistan for any western troops there.
