> The object of this feast is to commemorate the dignity of the Mary as Mother of God. Mary is truly the Mother of Christ, who in one person unites the human and divine nature. This title was solemnly ratified by the Council of Ephesus, 22 June, 431. The hymns used in the office of the feast also allude to Mary's dignity as the spiritual mother of men. The love of Mary for all mankind was that of a mother, for she shared all the feelings of her son whose love for men led Him to die for our redemption (Hunter, Dogm.Theo. 2, 578).

> The feast of the "Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary" was established in Portugal in 1914 for celebration on 11 October and was extended to the entire Catholic Church by Pope Pius XI in 1931.

> The feast is a celebration of Mary's motherhood of Jesus. The English title "Mother of God" is a translation of the Latin title Dei Genetrix, which means "She Who Generated God", as the corresponding Greek title Θεοτόκος (Theotokos) means "She Who Gave Birth to God". This title was dogmatically adopted at the First Council of Ephesus (431)[4] as a way to assert that Jesus is God, and that his mother can therefore be called Mother of God. The title that the 1 January feast celebrates is thus not only Mariological but also Christological.

Lets not romanticize paganism, the ancient pagans were all the same: worshipped idols, committed human sacrifice, worshipped the phallus, worshipped the sun, practice cannibalism... Jesus freeed our ancestors from this Satanic life of sin.

# This Weeks Discussion Theme: [Consoom Enjoyment]( https://take.supersurvey.com/resultsQPMJ65WHE)

To help set the mood enjoy this classic [Always look on the bright side of life](https://youtu.be/L2Wx230gYJw).

In this weekly we CONSOOOOOOOOOM ENJOYMENT. The world, our clown world in a lot of painfully obvious ways is objectively awful. But that doesn’t mean you need to feel awful because of it. In a lot of ways, it just comes down to your perspective. Your lens you choose to view reality with. This doesn’t mean the solution to the malaise is to be a consumer living for the newest best shiny product. Instead, a more realistic solution may really come from simply stopping to smell the roses. You know enjoying the little things in life that no one can take from you.

These are the kinds of ideas that this weekly is about.

Discussion ideas:
* Does your perspective on the world whether positive or negative really matter? Or is that just pseudo nonsense?
* How do you “stop to smell the roses”?
* Share your favorite little things in life that others may overlook or take for granted.

Almost 50 years ago, fried chicken tycoon David Bamberger used his fortune to purchase 5,500 acres of overgrazed land in the Texas Hill Country. Planting grasses to soak in rains and fill hillside aquifers, Bamberger devoted the rest of his life to restoring the degraded landscape. Today, the land has been restored to its original habitat and boasts enormous biodiversity. Bamberger's model of land stewardship is now being replicated across the region and he is considered to be a visionary in land management and water conservation.
