California state only requires two years of Math in high school. Math 1 and Math 2--basically Algebra 1 with a little Geometry (no proofs).

4-year colleges should not have to deal with remedial math, and remedial writing. That's what junior college is for.

Meanwhile in college one of my assignments was to prove that 1+1=2 and another was a 2-part assignment to prove that all odd numbers are odd and all even numbers are even. Then there was probability and statistics in discrete and continuous timespaces.
