It would be a bloodbath suicide for our troops.
There is no way to deploy US troops: they can't come by sea because the distance to Tehran is too far to traverse without Iranian missiles turning all the troops into jam.
I wonder what it would look like to drop a hypersonic missile into the middle of a large US troop deployment.
Parachuting in would be even more risky and large troop carriers like the Globemasters would be easy targets.
There is no way to supply US troops who'll need a LOT of water in the summer heat. Shooting down US supply aircraft would be entertaining for Iran.

I agree except that is the point. They want them to die. Good soldiers and a military resistance is the only way they could possibly not go forward with their plans. Replace them with people with no loyalty to the country or people and what happens?

We can't logistically support a ground invasion of Iran, much less a naval fleet presence in the Persian Gulf. All of our bases in the region have been destroyed. Our closest resupply base is Diego Garcia, which itself is just a dinky deserted island in the middle of nowhere that gets all it's supplies from Singapore. Oh, and it's in range of all of Iran's shit.
Our flag ships are currently without soap and toilet paper, and are on starvation rations because we can't get them the supplies they need every 7-10 days to support the 4000 sailors on board. Mind you, we're able to resupply carriers with palletized goods from over the horizon so long as the carrier is getting sufficient bunkers to keep their helos in the air. That's clearly not happening.
If we invade Iran, it won't be by beach landing, because we would get obliterated in a couple hours. The waterways around Iran are basically a giant kill box. We can't even successfully escort commercial shipping through the straight without getting torn up. What makes you think we'll get landing craft to the beach?
