Flock had miss identified multiple vehicle plates as stolen or the owner committed a crime and given that info to the local police force who went and arrested and/or drew guns on the driver.

There is another case of a Flock camera misidentfying a womans SUV and her as a porch pirate, and she had to take the time and effort herself to prove her innocence.

Guilty until you prove your innocence.

All because "the computer told me to".

Pathetic, police used to have to be somewhat competent to be an officer, now it seems we are moving towards them just being bots with authority given from above, from a computer.

Same problem with speed cameras. They go from clocking you, having a human pull you over and identify you, and lay charges to getting a pick of your plates and mailing you the charges.

It really illustrates just how lazy and incompetent cops actually are.

i remember when speed camera programs were just starting, the main issue was and still is, you cannot identify who is driving so the driver cannot be issued a ticket with points.

but the solution was to just mail the speeding ticket to the plate registered owner. I havent checked but I bet certain states issue points now too.

I remember a coworker who was on a remote assignment with me away from home and was issued a speed camera ticket to his house, where he has not been to in months because he was working remotely. So he didnt pay it because he didnt know about it, and his home state suspended his driving license. This was 15 years ago. Who knows what legal shenanigans these speed cameras, and database cameras [like Flock, there are like 12 of them total] will force people into now.

There was a woman in TN misidentified as a criminal in a case in ND. TN police arrested her on behalf of Fargo, ND police and extradited her to ND where she sat in jail for a long time before they realized they had the wrong woman.

"So the reason you pulled out guns in a high risk felony stop is simply because a computer told you to?"

You should lose your POST certificate for this kind of shit.

The reason swatting is possible is because police departments will deploy a swat team based on nothing but an anonymous phone call.

If Flock cameras weren't a problem, they'd be publicly accessible to everyone. But they aren't, because the people in charge think they'd be abused, like they are currently being abused by the people allowed to use them.
