That's me in the middle at most family gatherings. It's genuinely sad. Even my boomer mother can't put the fuckin phone down for two seconds (even though she barely knows how to use the fuckin thing).
Human interaction is mournful these days. I haven't had a smartphone in over a decade and in the last year don't even use a flip phone. If I need to get a hold of someone there are plenty of ways.... and I'm so thoroughly disgusted at being constantly reminded that most bipedal organisms walking this Earth are fucking pod people that I am intentionally going in the opposite direction.
I've got a neighbor that, in the couple years he has lived next door to me, I've never once seen without his face in his phone. That's not an exaggeration. Broccoli-haired zoomersoy that I'm surprised hasn't walked into traffic given his total inattention to the world actually around him.
The world desperately needs a cataclysm and a culling.
I've been trying to control my eating habits lately and one of the ways I'm doing it is by not eating with a screen in front of me. I've found it has helped me stop when I am full.
Unfortunately I have a small family and the only person I have to eat with is my mother and she requires a television to be on for background noise so I usually resign to eating at my desk.
