For a brief period, Jonathan Majors appeared destined to become the face of Marvel’s next era.
After debuting as He Who Remains in Loki (2021), Majors quickly became one of the most important figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios introduced multiple versions of Kang the Conqueror across Disney+ and theatrical releases, setting the stage for what was supposed to be a years-long storyline centered around the time-traveling villain.
The plan was ambitious. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was announced as one of the franchise’s next major crossover events, and Kang was positioned to fill the role once occupied by Thanos. Marvel wasn’t simply introducing another antagonist. The studio was building an entire saga around him.
