HBO's "Rome." Meant to portray the Romans as bloodthirsty pagan savages. Instead a loyal and rabid fanbase forms and finds a modern love for Caesar and ancient Roman culture.

Canceled after two seasons for no _apparent_ reason.

I laughed at your post, quite simply because I own the series and have re-watched it a number of times. My big disagreement with that series was the British actors using British accents. They should at least tried to make some kind of Latin accent or dialogue. Yea, I know it probably isn't doable, but the Brits doing Romans was almost cringe.
