Harry John Johnson grew up in Birmingham, and spent his life traveling across the world, and improving his watercolor painting.

Here, he painted the ruins of the temple of Aphaea (a goddess later identified with Athena). He shows off incredible ability to paint light, and many of his works show a scene at sunset.
