Modern middle easterners did not exist back then. The entire middle east used to be southern european looking rather than modern Arab looking. Some places still are (like Lebanon for instance) and individuals from other places still are, but it's obviously much less common than before. The cause of this was the arab slave trade.
So yes they actually were middle eastern. Just not the current understanding of what that means. Europeans (especially southerners) and ancient middle easterners share well over 50% of the same blood via farmers originally from the levant and anatolia. Deep southern europeans like those from andalucia or southern italy share over 80% archaic dna. Their appearance changed over time and mixing far more than ours did. Southern Europeans look exactly as their forefathers but if you ripped someone out of ancient Nabataea or egypt he would have no idea what the fuck a an Arab is supposed to be.

"Black" is such a loaded word... hell the Bantu colonization/genocide of SubSaharan Africa didn't even begin untill like 3000BC?
Most modern "blacks" in the West are Bantu stock, and may not even be fully Homo Sapien given the latest DNA research on their 33% unidentified "Archaic" Homanid DNA.
