Right? This isn't an act of contrition, it's an act of subversion; they aren't returning what they took, they're replacing it with what they want you to worship.

Also, did they just have that other statue on hand? Or did they actually commission, create, and install it in 24 hours?

Turns out nobody knows where this photo was taken nor where this cross is. Locals and the UNIFIL's Italian troops did replace it, however, but it's not a golden Jesus.
