Before most people were literate, the Orthodox Church told its stories with icons. The first iconographer being St. Luke the Apostle.

And it still does.

A real civilization writes its history in stone and glass.

A large part of our history is currently being recorded or transformed into sand (silicone processors).

It’s easier to erase.

I dunno, stained glass is pretty easy to erase if you throw a rock, not to mention glass is also made of sand.
