An IQ below 70 is basically a license to murder without fear of jail time. This animal will spend a few years in a locked psychiatric facility which is basically a summer camp spa. He will be medicated and eventually released to a group home where he will promptly abscond, use drugs/alcohol and reoffend again.

This happens constantly and they know the worst consequences for their actions is another trip to the day spa (psych hospital).

I can tell you from years of working in the field that he won't. He will 100% sit in jail until a slot in a locked psychiatric hospital opens. Maybe 6-9 months? Then, he will be shipped to an Emergency Department for medical clearance (1-2 days), and from there he will be processed into said locked psychiatric hospital.

He will live on a ward with a 1-2 dozen other people (units are often co-ed believe it or not, even for murderers!) and he will spend his days pigging out on food that most people couldn't afford, attending bullshit groups that do nothing, and he will have access to literally INCREDIBLE medical care. Folks in jail/prison receive next to nothing medically. Folks in locked psychiatric hospitals will regularly cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in medical, it's actually impressive how well these people are cared for.

Homeboy will be evaluated by psych providers who will trial him on a bunch of meds until he is deemed "stable" (this can and usually does take several years for folks with charges like this.) At some point, maybe 3-5 years down the line, he will be discharged to a residential group home with literally ZERO security. I don't think I need to tell you what will happen when he is back in the community.

Again, I can tell you with almost absolute certainty that this is what will happen.
