I had double inguinal hernia surgery last spring. I had complications from the procedure and needed to see my doctor again. His office wasn't open so the on-call nurse told me to go to the emergency room.
The emergency room in the Midwest college town where I live was newly built less than 5 years ago, but has an awful record and reputation already. Ranking 101 out of 106 ERs in the state for quality of care and length of emergency visits. Mainly because it's staffed overwhelmingly with non-Whites, foreigners, homosexuals and children not even out of college yet.
I told the on-call nurse that if I had a gunshot wound, I would rather stitch myself up or die than spend one moment in that emergency room.
