So-called "patriarchy" societies were really men focused on isolating women and children from the harsh realities that is mortal life.

Get rid of the patriarchy, and you'll have women having to deal with actual evil, tragedy, and the fact that if you don't plant your crops on the right day, you starve. Or even if you do plant your crops right, you still starve, because of factors you cannot control.

Meanwhile, men will go off on their own and recreate civilization.
