mediterranean boomers still live with their children and their children live with their children since they build houses to be family homes rather than living units
like you build a house on territory you own, that way when you have grandchildren you can expand the house and build another home on top of that
frankly speaking its the way to go, rather you buy a cheap shitshack that has no future for a family, large or otherwise
i myself bought an apartment that's fit for a family (and it has expansion options) even though i'm going to live solo, because there is a thing called **future proofing** and the empty space can always be used to host my brother and his 6 kids when they come visit
besides... free space is free space, much like building a PC you might not need those 12TB of SSD storage and 48GB of RAM but after a while you'll be sorry if you didn't buy those nand SSD's when they were still relatively affordable
