This isn't very odd. The huns were a large pluralistic confederacy of turkic and germanic tribes (they probably originally came from northwestern china, but by the time they sacked italy, a good half of the "hunnic empire" was gothic by origin). The fact that so much of their might came from germanic tribes who chose them over the romans (this was a contentious issue for the goths, who were split about who they viewed as a greater enemy) is the reason that old depictions of Attila show some viking looking dude.
The turkic tribes conquered and were pushed back from the same general area(s) repeatedly multiple times. Plus, the borders of khazaria existed before its elite even converted to judaism, and the extent of khazaria was tiny in comparison to the huns at their peak. And, khazaria had no goths, because the goths were gone, moved west and assimilated into latin culture. Khazaria was mostly turkic and Slavic.
