Yeah they never really wanted to “innovate”. Honestly overrated I think. Just leads to moral and spiritual decay half the time.

America outdid the rest of the world with bumfuck farmers and explorers for 200+ years because people kept what they made, and I'd argue they were largely christian and not degenerates.

The reason the renaissance, and america's 1800s tech boom happened is because people were able to keep what they made. The original purpose of the patent office was genius to keep inventors in royalties. However, like most things. The people themselves, and the weaponization of the patent office killed the spirit of discovery. I'd argue that we'd see a resurgence if people kept what they made instead of being taxed, forced into corporate contract, or screwed by the current patent/legal system. Only if, of course, they were largely mono culture white and shared a moral framework.
