I wish there was some form I could fill out to opt out of the social security and medicare tax, on the condition that I am forever ineligible for benefits.

The boomers are going to die and they will have a solid decade where very few are retiring but when the millennials retire they will say they didn’t prepare and cut benefits further and raise taxes.
Fiat currency will collapse in 2027. Hyperinflation is coming and you can kiss your lifestyle goodbye. Also there's no SS checks coming your way.

It definitely is harder, I feel for people younger than me. I would not want to be in my 20s now trying to do what I managed to do.
That said, if I had to start all over again, one thing I'd learn to do is build skills that would make me self-sufficient, along with the other things I did do such as practice minimalism, stack as much money as I can and invest invest invest.
