It’s weird that they stopped that series, given that after the first two were built they could have pulled an EA and just re-released the same game every single year. Maybe add a category or two, tighten up the controls, smooth out the UI, etc. All their R&D was done, though.
From what I recall, the IOC chose not to renew their license to Sega (who developed the games) to let them use the Olympics. There's some other Olympic-themed video game series now that no one cares about.
