This was an interesting story. I think he was well intentioned. He had the balls to leave his well-to-do life behind and attempt to find himself. And actually, when he was ready to leave the bus in Alaska, its because he realizes his happiness would come from raising a family. Sadly, he was also stupid and didnt realize snow melt from the mountains would turn the stream he crossed in the winter into a raging river in the spring. He also didnt realize there were bridges for crossing in the area. A combination of hubris, ignorance, and bad luck brought this individual to his literal knees. Still a good movie.
