I often wish the modern world hadn't made the survival aspect of life so easy. Winter used to be something you had to respect, because if you didn't, you fucking died. You had to plan how you would feed and warm yourself before it arrived. You had to be careful where you stepped if you went out, because one wrong move could doom you to hypothermia. Winter forced people to take survival seriously, and therefore not take their lives for granted.
