They do not think logically. They think ideologically, adhering to the set of ideas which it contains. It's based on wishful thinking, hypotheticals that reject established knowledge.
The problem is that hypotheticals are irrefutable. You can shower them with facts and logic, but they can always resort to "yeah, but if." Even if you give them EXACTLY what they wanted, they will complain that it wasn't EXACTLY ENOUGH.
Meaning they cannot be convinced rationally. They only adhere to power and violence. You can disprove them publicly, to show to others what clowns they are, but you can NEVER convince them.

sounds like you have already watched the ex-KGB propagandist defector Yuri Bezmenov's interview in 1984. He predicted everything you said, and this was from 30 years ago.
