Hey guys,

I'm in very good shape physically but my mental health isn't as great as I'd like.

I'm thinking a missing component is needing to cut out caffeine.

I exercise regularly, eat very well, don't smoke, rarely drink, etc.

My DHEA levels are low, but aside from that, nothing hormonal is off. I'd rather fix this issue naturally than supplement, if possible, as I've heard low DHEA is correlated with fatigue.

My question: have any of you here cut out caffeine and what affects did this have on your life?

Hello, i dont know if this relates to you, i took a genetic test (this was in 2017 btw) and found out i have MTHFR, or i guess half of the genetic disease. Certain people can have both genes mutated, which leads to increased "laziness" and chemical imbalance of release of the "happy" chemicals. They told me to not eat red meat, and take some brain supplements, i still eat red meat tho :)

I dont know if the only way to test for it is genetic testing, as im not very knowledgable on this subject aside from cursory aspects. But certain vitamins dont get properly absorbed, especially if double mthfr, i think its b12, and amino acids...

Uhhh what? Red meat is the best source of bioavaialble B vitamins.

In the context of mtfhr, its not the bio-availability thats the issue, certain processes (methlyzation) are slowed with the b12, its more that the mutation makes it so it doesnt process unless its a different chemical compound.

Your mileage may vary, certain people get headaches after red meat with mthfr.

Give it a shot for a few weeks. You might get a headache, so taper down if thst happens.

Yes, I have this but haven't found good enough support beyond take a million diff supplements.

I didn't know red meat was an issue, I eat a lot. I'll try cutting it out and see.

I ordered some good b12 injectables I'm going to take.

Ok, as much as reddit sucks, there is a mtfhr subreddit, and those guys are really smart people imho.

Good luck with it all :)
