You're onto something. And then the color leaves the real world but stays in the movies.

Does this drive our eyes to yearn for cinema? To cherish whatever message is delivered over the one colorful thing we have left?

Well the 80s is complimentary to home appliances at the time. Beige computers, wood console TVs, black or gray or silver entertainment devices, white or pale yellow off-white kitchen appliances. It's all plastics, bare metal, and wood.

And the 90s were muted earth tone, which compliments the green and khaki which were popular in casual clothing at the time similar to those earth focused shops in the malls. Look at what we were wearing: coveralls and combat boots. Sure, there were the Xtreme styles of clothing, but khaki cargo pants and a mid tone polo were universal - even the goths had those for semi-formal events. With a braided belt.
