Goering gets a bit of a bad rap because he had a few issues. One, there were power struggles within the leadership and he didn't always make the right decisions. Secondly, he had his opiate addiction which started way back after he was shot in the Beer Hall Putsch. He was inhibited by that. The notable thing about that addiction was that, after the way, the Allies basically got him off the sauce for the trial. He lost a lot of weight and his mind snapped by to being quite sharp. Which is why the Nuremberg prosecutors had so much trouble with him, lol.
