The way I would think of it is like this:
Sometimes good people do bad things.
Sometimes bad people do good things.
If this Serenity Prayer is in and of itself a good thing and brings you peace and closer to God, then it is a good thing.
The fact that it came from a person who you strongly disagree with on a lot of things brings you concern.
But if you can separate the act from the person, and still get peace from the good act itself, then why not?
