Why do so many modern Christians so easily confuse jews with Israelites? You could (suppposedly) draw a historical line from one to the other, but that doesn't make them the same thing. Dogs are not wolves. Prior to the 18th or 19th century, Christians did not have this confusion...

Because modern translations of the Bible call Hebrewes/Israelites “jews” irrespective of the timeframe.
