I have heard 1800s life was kinda not enjoyable, look up some reports
I guess my view is we should have a balanced perspective adding the good with the bad. The technology today does disrupt life in ways that may make even brutal life back then seem more worthwhile.
But basically we will not get "progress" today without all then problems technology adds to our lives. But we should also remember a lot of the downsides to living with less tech.
Can you be more specific about what was bad in the 1800s? I know children had to work in factories under terrible conditions, but this was a result of technology and before that children would just help their parents on the farm. Also there was slavery and if you didn't fit in with the local community they could make life difficult for you or one person could make a false accusation and then the whole town hates you. But I don't think these problems necessarily come back without modern technology and they can be solved without technology.
