Remain hopeful friend. A lot of good men have been fighting since before you were born.

The difference now is that previous media controls are no longer in place. People are working overtime to change that.

Consume Product is not meanspirited. Being mean for petty reasons is not the Consume Product way. Lead by example, be the change you want to see.
