Very true. "Stereotypes" can be a positive or negative reflection but they're still another way of saying "shit that happens so often it's common knowledge"

It's essentially just identifying people by the groups they belong to, and acknowledging group dynamics and behaviors. It's common sense, that when applied to race, suddenly becomes wrong think.
