This is very true. There's a marketing video from the 1950's on YouTube that openly dissects the ego of black shoppers. Because of their self-imposed inferiority complex, they're actually easier to upsell into more expensive products.

Go visit the website for Hennessy Cognac. Look at the models on the page and their "brand ambassadors." Go to the Johnny Walker website. These used to be prestigious "highline" brands that my grandparents would buy for special occasions. It's still just as expensive, but now they sell more of it than ever to dopes who think drinking it puts them on equal footing with the actual wealthy.
