Good question, especially why *just* before the attack?
Speculatively, if you seach "Bondi Beach" and ignore the news articles, you get a bunch of tourism sites and the wiki article. Maybe they're looking for images to alter? Or even just getting directions to send to their team on the ground?
As for the shooter name, that's pretty obvious; they're researching the article they're about to drop.
For all the power MKUltra tech gives them, I don't think it's very precise. They probably have subjects that they're applying pressure to and waiting for them to snap, at which point they need to move quickly. They might even be feeding the subject info about the target location in real time, after the break but before the event, in order to direct them.

Them looking into bondi beach makes perfect sense, I just don't get why they would Google "terrorist attack", something they knew had not happened yet.
