It's partly his fault for never having talked about it. She was idiotic to do it without asking. Just taking something she has no knowledge of, which is not hers, and then sell it for nothing. And put on the effort to actually sell it for that little money.

The idea that someone who has lived with me for years would suddenly undercut me without consultation and for zero actual reason just never occurred to me.
People seem to broadly assume that women come "ready to live with."
Oh they definitely don't.
The best intentioned women do dumb shit because they simply don't know any better.
My wife would leave her wash rags on a pile on the shower where they'd cause mold to grow underneath. I had to explain that moisture is bad,.and you wring them out after use and out them immediately in the wash. Not wait til.thr weekend to do laundry.
She didn't know the garbage disposal wasn't a black hole. That it actually can break if you put the wrong stuff or too much stuff in there and that it's really only a last resort for scraps that fell in by mistake.
Or that long hair should be thrown in the fucking trash can, not shoved into the damn shower drain where it will cause clogs.
A lot of this boils down to women don't have much concept of where things originate from before they get them, and where things go once they are done with them. You see this with children, as well as minorities.

Tbf who sees some change in a jar and goes "oh I'm gonna exchange this for dollars to be helpful uwu", a brownoid? Wouldn't that just blend in as household trinkets?

Yeah. If I'd think something has so little value, I'd just keep it. The effort alone to sell it is more than its falsely perceived value. I just can't see it happening, the story doesn't make much sense.
I agree with u/ColloidalUranium, I haven't even thought of the simple possibility that it's just fake. Obviously.

My first thought was if they are so broke she's bringing handfuls of coins to the knitting store that he probably would have sold the coins by now for their full value. Of course there are simple explanations why that might not be true, but combined with the fact that it's reddit I'll throw all my chips in.

Nah man, that’s just wired all around for her to just randomly do that out of the blue without any prior discussion at all. I assure you this is either FAG, or she did it because she fucking hates him, and got more for it all than she’s saying.
Very weird.
Assume everything on reddit is fake unless proven true, and about 10% of conpro as shown by this repost.

And he never talked to her about it?
That's stupid. But that's the most believable part of this story since this was on Reddit.
