It wasn't a police checkpoint, it was to confirm conference attendees. It is a state park so they act as "security" essentially. Amren has been going there for years, the state has to cooperate as it is a first amendment thing.

The cops were not asking questions. They were checking a guest list. But it also is a public park so the news crew set up at the checkpoint with directional mics. This won't happen to a jewish conference because 1) the news ain't showing up there and 2) jews use private venues anyway.
